Second Annual Wisconsin Woodturners Expo.

A Huge Success.

By any ruler, by any standard, it all comes out the same. No matter how you measure the 2010 Wisconsin Woodturners Expo, whether it be by paid general attendance (over 750 vs 250 last year), paid demonstrator attendance, distances traveled (No. Dakota, Iowa, Madison, Wausau, Rochester, Twin Cities, Anoka), exhibitor space increase (16 vs 10), vendor space increase (11 vs 1), demonstrators, 2010 was a huge success.

Thanks to all the guild members who made the Expo a success.

Jerry Engedal did all the graphics and layout work.  Chuck Brovold made sure that our website was always up to date with the latest happenings with the Expo.

Lyle Jamieson, from Traverse City, MI. was our "headliner" demonstrator along with Mike Hunter, Wade Wendorf, and Linda Ferber. Those three were all from the Minnesota Woodturners Association in the Twin Cities.

Topping off all that demonstrator power were our own Fran Passe, Bob Eberhardt, and Rick Bauer.

Ken and Kathy Raines set up the bucket raffle and ran that through out the two day Expo. There were 15 items in the bucket raffle. Ken is Vice President and Kathy is the Treasurer of the West Wisconsin Wood Carvers Guild. They helped spread the word to other carvers throughout Wisconsin.

Stella Bauer did another super job this year as she set up the silent auction for us. We had three tables with 65 items donated. That was a big job to organize. Thank you very much, Stella.

Ron Bartz headed up the advertising and public relations committee. Keith Jones sent out Community Service Announcements to newspapers, radio stations and television stations in a 150 mile radius of Eau Claire. I know they were effective because I received an email from someone in Green Bay wanting to donate something to our silent auction. They saw it on the WSAW TV website in Wausau. Barry Grill plugged in as committee co-chair, got us the connection for our on sight radio broadcast Saturday morning along with Public Service Announcements and advertising on ten valley radio stations. Besides that he and Ron were the guys that placed the banners along WI Hwy 29 and CTH "T." Cindy and Rick Hanson coordinated the facility and a great job they did. Saturday morning, Rick was a gofer lining up last minute needs.

Mel Rude saw to it that the lathe and vacuum were on sight ready to use. He also got them back to Banbury for us. Thank you, Mel.
