2011
Chippewa Valley Woodturners Guild donation to the Feed My People "Empty Bowls" fund raiser.
Feed My People is a "food bank" located here in Eau Claire that supplies free food to 69 food pantries in 14 counties.
In only it's second year of participation, the Chippewa Valley Woodturners Guild more than doubled
last years contribution by donating 210 turned items to the 2011" Empty Bowls " fund raiser.

A letter from the Assistant Director of Feed My People to Brian George president of CVWG.
Hi Brian,
Thank you for rallying the Chippewa Valley Woodturners Guild to support Empty Bowls. The beautiful pieces donated by your members continue to be
very popular among our guests. Throughout the event, I heard several people ask if there were more wooden bowls because as soon as they were put out,
people took them! Many people I spoke with, who got a wooden bowl, considered themselves very lucky and were thrilled to get a wooden bowl.
Your members do wonderful work and we thank every one of them for their support!
Proceeds from the Guild's items at auction were about $900, and proceeds from the tickets sold for the Guild's bowls were $2,952 - for a grand total
of $3,848! This is about 9% of the total raised at Empty Bowls this year ($41,472)! Empty Bowls raised enough to provide about 237,000 meals; the
Guild alone raised enough to provide about 22,000 meals. :-)
Thank you again for all you do to support Feed My People and our hunger-relief programs. We could not do it without the generous support of
community members like you. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like further information.
Sincerely,
Michelle

Fran Passe, one of our members, volunteers for the food pantry in Durand.
He challenged CVWG members to each make 25 bowls for the 2011 fund raiser.
The following people accepted the challenge:
Tom Frank - 25, Fran Passe - 25, Brian George -25, Barry Grill - 25
I am still real amazed at what we did for 2011.
Sure these four people accepted the challenge of 25 but, it's the next 110 that really made it a huge success.
Rick Bauer thinks we should go for 400 next year and I agree!
