CVWG has several outside events in the community each year. These have included SpringFest in Chippewa Falls, Heyde Center Art Show, Family Fun Fair at the Chippewa Valley Museum and the Chainsaw Carving Championship in Eau Claire. Our Learn to Turn, pictured at left, is always popular at any of the events

In 2015 CVWG was contacted by the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire to make a mace and stand to be used at ceremonies at UWEC. They were made from the Council Oak and the Kent State Memorial Crabapple tree from the UWEC campus grounds. The team members involved in the turning are pictured below.

Additionally, other wood from those trees were used in a sculpture by Bill Freeman and commemorative plates by Mark Palma.

The result of this work resulted in a generous donation to the Chippewa Valley Woodturners Guild.
