Raffle winner Steve Hay received the Sorby 1/16″ thin parting tool, and a new raffle has begun for a Robust 5/8″ bowl gouge. Skew classes were held in October, and beginner woodturning classes will begin November 12 with additional sessions planned if interest continues. Plans are underway for 2027 demonstrations including a salt cellar, wine goblet base, McNaughton coring nested bowls, door stops, safety and accident stories, and jamb chucks. The club recognized Pat Smith for providing meeting and workshop space for many years. The Video of the Month featured Dos and Don’ts with Faceplates. The club’s Focus on Wood highlighted plum trees and plum varieties. Dan Brandner demonstrated turning a fancy spindle icicle ornament, covering wood selection, drilling, spindle design elements, sanding, finishing, and assembly. Future demonstrations include Bob Eberhardt’s lamp base with a long drilled hole and Dan Brandner’s demonstration on turning tiny things. Bob Eberhardt demonstrated turning a rolling pin with added bearings. Bob made a video of the demonstration and it can be viewed on the Chippewa Valley Woodturners Guild group on Facebook.
